The Sugarmill Fundamentals

Each time you visit The Sugarmill, you play a part in keeping our local music scene alive. Your support helps us fund artists, musicians, local performers and suppliers, strengthen our community, and continue delivering incredible shows and unforgettable nights out.

We’re proud to welcome everyone – regardless of age, nationality, disability, gender, or sexuality. Our community thrives on respect, care, and a shared love of music. The Sugarmill Fundamentals set out the basics that help us make every night one to remember:

Accessibility

The Sugarmill is committed to ensuring everyone can enjoy live music and club nights with us. We’ll always try to adapt our existing space and policies to suit different user needs. For more details on how we can help you enjoy your time with us head to our ACCESS page.

Inclusivity

The Sugarmill is intentionally inclusive and diverse in our programming, staffing and customers. We have zero tolerance for discrimination of any kind. Everyone is welcome to The Sugarmill and is entitled to a space that is free from discrimination and harassment, regardless of their sexual orientation, gender identity, race or religion. The environment we provide is supportive, safe and welcoming to diversity amongst sexuality and gender. Equally, all staff are entitled to a safe and welcoming workplace in which they are not discriminated against or treated unfairly.  If you’re made to feel uncomfortable, or if you see anyone behaving inappropriately let one of our staff know, and we will sort it.

Health and Wellbeing

Your safety is our priority. Feeling off? Let our staff know – we’ll get you some water, a place to rest, or help if you need it. If you’re feeling unwell for any reason, our team is here for you – no judgment. Please let us know what’s happened, including anything you may have taken, so we can get you the right support quickly.

We are committed to supporting our customers in vulnerable situations. We won’t ask you to leave without ensuring you’re okay and have the necessary support to get home.

Personal Space

Inappropriate behaviour will not be tolerated under any circumstances. If you witness or are subjected to sexual harassment, intimidation, unwanted invasion of your personal space or any other form of disrespect – let a member of staff know. Our team members are trained to deal with the situation in a way that safeguards your comfort.

Suspicious Behaviour

If something feels off or you spot any suspicious behaviour, please tell a member of staff or security. We’re here to make sure everyone has a great, safe night – your help really matters.

Let’s keep The Sugarmill friendly and fun: treat each other with respect, thank the bar staff, and remember – a simple ‘excuse me’ goes a long way.

If you have any questions, please know that we’re here for you.
